Most appointments are pre-booked. Book online through our handy-dandy booking system which also shows what times are available, or give us a call at 587-318-5640 and we can help you through this process.
It’s a security deposit in case someone from your group breaks something in one of our rooms. The vast majority of our guests are great, however we have some pretty crazy stories about what the other 1% have done!
Yes, we certainly do! Click the “Book Your Adventure” button in the top right corner of the site. From there, click the “Printable Gift Certificates” tab, choose “Service” and then select the number of plays you want to purchase from the drop down menu.
We will give you a free play for your special day as long as you have four paid guests along with you. When booking for a birthday, book for one less person and make a note in the booking that a birthday person will accompany the group. You must present ID and your Bday must be within 7 days of your play and only 1 birthday can be claimed per 5 people. Happy Birthday from SmartyPantz!
Not to toot our own horn too loudly, but our puzzles and riddles are based on logic that relates to our room settings and stories; we’re more than just a bunch of padlocks and math puzzles. We’re all about full immersion. Our set decoration and props have been put together by experts with tons of experience in the film and television industries, and we also have hosts in costume and character who greet you to begin your experience and guide you through the entire process.
It’s always more fun in a group! Spies & Lies can be booked with a minimum of three, while Thirst For Murder and Morning Never Comes require a minimum of four. The rooms have been designed for a group effort and as a small group, the likelihood of achieving success and maximizing fun is diminished…and remember we’re all about having fun.
Now if you insist on being a smaller group, we can’t hold a room for you but if you call us and we have a vacancy you can come and play as a walk in.
No worries, we have an imprint of your credit card we’ll just go buy a new one on you. Just kidding…kind of. All our props and rooms are carefully designed and built to withstand the rigors of day to day use. If it truly is an accident we will assess the situation and make a decision that is fair. If you’re just being silly, you’ll have to pay. We have cameras in all the rooms for everyone’s safety so we’ll just review the video to see what really happened.
You sure can, if you’re just walking by and have the urge to play…give us a shout and we’ll see what we can do. Obviously this would be dependent on our availability at the time.
Absolutely! We take bookings at other times of day as long as they are a week or more in advance so that we can adjust our staffing to accommodate. Although if someone else has already booked outside of our regular hours on a given day, more slots will be open outside normal hours as we’ll already have staff on. The bottom line is that if it’s available to be booked online, we’ll be open and have staff there to host it.
If you would like to book a time outside of our regular hours with less than a week advance notice and it does not appear as available through our booking system, please give us a call and we’ll see if we can swing it.
We’ve built and tested our rooms to provide varying levels of difficulty. If you truly need a hint, get on your two way radio and we’ll help you out (we give two hints per playthrough). When we say “hints,” we mean proper hints and not the full solution, since there would be no fun in that.
If you’re late you will miss out on some interesting and helpful info, but you still get to play. However, your allotted time will be reduced by however late you are. Try being 10 minutes early or, better yet, come really early and play with our huge assortment of extremely cool games and brain teasers.
We accept Visa & MasterCard through our online booking system along with debit in person. We also require a security deposit credit card to be kept on file until after your adventure is completed. For rooms booked online in advance, if you have someone joining your group with you they can pay upon arrival.
All of our rooms are pre-booked, unfortunately we don’t “hold” rooms as it wouldn’t be fair to others especially if you don’t show up. Some options: call us and we can process your payment over the phone, if your group is larger than 4 you can be an “add on” and pay when you arrive, or your friends can pay and you can pay them.
The price is $25 plus tax per person per 45min play in the room. All tolled up it ends up being just over an hour by the time we brief you, you play and then you get a debrief. Order today and we’ll throw in a complimentary tour of our lounge space and unlimited use of all our amazing bathroom facilities.
If you let us know by email or phone more than 24 hours from your scheduled adventure start time, we will issue a full refund for any individual(s) not attending, or your full booking if required. If you let us know inside 24 hours from your scheduled adventure start time, we will provide a gift certificate for the individual(s) not attending or your full booking if required.
Not to worry, there isn’t some sort of trap door portal into the Star Wars trash compactor, you get to live another day. For some of the rooms we may give the option to walk you through the remaining puzzles and riddles…but that’s dependent upon whether there is another group ready and waiting to play.
You can still play, but you need a parent or guardian to sign your waiver first. If your parents aren’t coming with you, make sure you print it off at home and bring it with you! Check out our waiver here. Children under 15 need to be accompanied by an adult.
Yes, we like kids, especially if they are well behaved. With our variety of rooms, we’re happy to accommodate families with younger kids…we’ve even had some babies have a good time in our rooms! You should know that all of our rooms have been designed for the average adult to solve so you’ll want to tackle the easier rooms. Recommendations: kids who scare easily should look at Spies & Lies. Those more daring youngsters can look at conquering a haunted or scary room if they wish. Also, anyone under 15 must be accompanied by an adult and anyone under 18 must have their waiver signed by a parent or guardian!
Some of our rooms are a little scary…or, depending on how easily you scare, a lot scary! We have some pretty cool props and other fun stuff built into the rooms, but remember this is all about having fun. If you scare easy, check out some of our not-so-scary rooms; we have a good variety to appeal to a wide audience. Call us if you’re not sure and we’ll give you the low down on what room you’ll have the most fun in.
We don’t do jump scares, if that’s something you’re worried about!
Find the door handle, turn it and open the door and let one of our hosts know the situation. You could also use the handy dandy two way radio in the room and someone will come to the rescue. They will direct you to the lounge to wait for your intrepid team of puzzle solvers. You can indulge in some brain twisters in a well lit comfortable environment.
We harken back to the pre-laptop days and, most of all, mobile phone days. We don’t want you to be distracted by Googling this or adding that or taking a picture of this…you won’t have time because you’ll be too busy searching the far reaches of your own personal hard drive located between your ears. And save your bic for the next Def Leppard concert.
We’ll lock up all your valuables in our closets specially provided for you.
Some rooms may involve reaching or ducking or potentially crawling, but not all group members will need to be able to do these activities, just the most fit or bravest. And don’t worry, there isn’t any climbing, jumping, swimming from sharks or generally taking furniture apart. Reading will be involved in most rooms so bring your spectacles if required.
Knowledge of string theory, Spinozism and paleolinguistics will greatly aid…whaaaat? Forget that stuff. Logic, creativity, team work and abstract thinking are the ingredients that will help you solve the puzzles and riddles. Having said all of that, being able to read music may be helpful in one of our rooms and don’t worry…there are no big math puzzles. We want you and your group to “win” and get to the end, but not without some challenges along the way.
We rate success by people having fun, and in that category we’re batting a thousand! As far as completion goes, our rooms have a wide range of difficulty levels from 20% success rate to 50%. We strive to make it feasible for a skilled group to succeed in any of our groups on their first try, while still keeping things challenging. Check out the room descriptions on our website to get an idea!
If there is any sort of emergency on premise, like a power outage or fire, the entry door into all rooms will always remain unlocked. All our locations are built to city code including fire safety equipment and emergency lighting to aid in evacuating people from the space in an orderly manner.
Currently most our rooms are located on the second floor of our building, which is only accessible by stairs. We have one room (Thirst for Murder) on the first floor. Without giving too much away, it requires at least one member of the group (but not all) to crawl at one point, but should otherwise be accessible.
Guests are allowed to leave the rooms at any point during gameplay, but if they choose to do so, they will not be permitted to reenter. We have washrooms for guests and encourage everyone to take care of any bathroom breaks before playing.
